Trinity has many special events throughout the year. In keeping with our Anglican heritage, we hold a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper before the season of Lent, followed by a traditional Ash Wednesday service and weekday Lenten study. Following Palm Sunday and Easter, we have Pinwheel Sunday on Pentecost in which pinwheels are placed around the church to symbolize the winds of the Holy Spirit. In November we join other local Flushing churches for an Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service. Christmas is celebrated at Trinity in a traditional manner, beginning with the greening of the church and two services on Christmas Eve. For those who really like Christmas, Trinity celebrates for 12 days. Trinity makes an effort to engage in local civic celebrations, such as Flushing’s Harvest Fest (October) and Candlewalk (December). Perhaps our most well-known community event is the Animal Blessing, which is held on the front lawn of the church in July. A new Recovery Service was added in 2009 for those recovering from addictions.
Past social events for parishioners have included a wine-tasting party, progressive dinner at members’ homes, summer picnic, ski weekend, and pub nights.
