During the summer of 1999, having made plans to be married in the fall of 2000, we began to search for a place the two of us as well as Deanna’s two young children could worship. Both of us felt that a relationship with God was important in making our new family successful and happy. We had both grown up in the Roman Catholic Church, now we were both divorced and not comfortable with the thought of returning to the Catholic Church. Through the internet we researched different religions, we became intrigued with the Episcopal philosophy. It appeared to be closely related to the Roman Catholic beliefs and sacraments we were accustomed to. Local listings led us to Trinity Episcopal Church, Flushing. Trinity is a small church, showing up for the first time on Sunday morning does not go unnoticed. We were immediately welcomed! We found the service to be similar to the Catholic service we were accustomed to. Although Trinity appeared to be a community of long time members and not as many youth as we had wished, it was a friendly feeling of belonging from a personal and spiritual perspective.
Trinity Episcopal Church allows us to participate in the traditional religious experience while allowing one to feel welcomed as a family member. The Congregation provides living examples to both us and our children of what God, church and warm fellowship is all about. Even our young children comment on the friendliness of all and their desire to share the experience with other youth. In short, we have grown to love our Trinity family. Involvement within the Trinity community is what you make it. If you wish to utilize your time and talents in serving the Lord the opportunity is certainly available to you. Should that not be "your cup of tea" we certainly understand, honor and respect those feelings. Should you decide to come and experience the celebration of the Eucharist with us some Sunday morning, please be sure to take the time to talk with the Members. Stay and introduce yourself and your family at coffee hour. Let us know what your needs and expectations may be. We did, and we are very happy that we did!
